The new Privateering feature on POC is quite fun! A bit buggy at times, especially when a lot of players are in all at once, but still a wild ride.
As usual, beware of asking for "crew members" out of the blue. The old saying "be careful of what you ask for" can ring too true. I knew better but for the sake of trying out the new Privateering in as many ways I could rather than just sailing all by me lonesome on a war frigate, I first joined a crew, who then wanted to go on my ship. Turned out to be a squad of brats. The one who crewed me decided he as "captain" and I should do as he said ("Excuse me, but this is MY ship.."), the lot of them wouldn't take orders anyway let alone man the guns ("Say there, instead of running around the decks with your sword out why don't you go shoot the enemy ships..?"), one was demanding we "go get an EITC ship" ("We are in PRIVATEERING PVP mode, not a pleasure cruise.."), etc., etc. Of course one by one they left the ship and crew, probably stamping their feet as they left.
The next time, I put out a Looking For Crew signal. One guy kept coming and leaving several times...no idea what he was doing or why, never responded to any chat. Another I believe was of an "English is not the native language" region of the world, to put it as nicely as I may. He didn't respond to Spanish, German, or French either. What he did do was run around the decks, repeatedly send me "Be my friend" notices, and try to take the helm if at any time I left it to man a gun or repair the ship. Five times telling him not to do it made it clear he didn't know what I was saying, either that or he was just a large jerk. Next thing I know there are 5 other people on my ship I did not invite or know. Just like Mister "Redrage" they did not respond to any form of chat, ran around the decks and each one tried to take over the helm at some point. As we were near the Spanish Island I was through being Mr Nice Guy and landed the ship which of course dumped them all on the beach. Quitting the crew and clicking them all on Ignore finally got rid of them.
Despite all my above rant, I still had great fun especially when I crewed up with members of my Guild, and those on my Friends list I know and trust. (Thus endeth the lesson -- Beware who you crew!)
I noticed it doesn't often matter how big your ship is either as I saw many light sloops running around causing any amount of mayhem! Brave little fellows!
Genre/Style:
Role-playing/Strategy RPG

I must add a cool experience too though, after 48 ships in a row one guy in a different light sloop called Nathaniel finally whooped us, I was so impressed by his determination to end our reign of terror that I had to go to Le Porc to talk to him, we were freinded in no time thus proving that some pirates take it in the sense that was intended: FUN!!
Tip if you are playing: avoid the older servers (especially the ones in the A group) they are full of holes, over used and very laggy.
Long live Wrong Trousers and goooo on Blue Dancer long may she sail!!!!
